Los Angeles, Nov 9 (IANS) Hollywood celebrities like Cher and Chris Evans expressed disappointment, fear and disbelief over Republican Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election on Wednesday. Trump was elected the 45th US President, defeating forecasters who had predicted Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton’s win.
During their presidential campaigns, Clinton found immense support from celebrities from the American film world. Here’s what some representatives of the celebrity world had to say on the result of the polls:
Chris Evans: This is an embarrassing night for America. We’ve let a hatemonger lead our great nation. We’ve let a bully set our course. I’m devastated.
Shonda Rhimes: This many of you don’t mind the body-part grabbing xenophobic man who says ‘there’s my black over there?’ Alec Baldwin: One thing that is changed forever in this country is the meaning of the word ‘Christian’ as it applies to politics.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson: I’m taking tonight to grieve for minorities, women, immigrants, muslims & the LGBTQ community but tomorrow I’m waking up ready to fight.
Cher: How did Trump get this far? He should be in jail and throw away the key. Maybe then he can grab his own p*ssy. Nothing is funny about tonight! Millions of women, POC, Muslim, and immigrants are scared sh**less. It shouldn’t be this close.
Ariana Grande: Well this is utterly terrifying. Shonda Rhimes: Uh, America?
Wil Wheaton: America, we are way too comfortable with racism, misogyny, and bigotry. I’m profoundly disappointed in us as a nation.
Brooke Burke-Charvet: We will face a deeply divided nation that may take a long time to heal.
Beau Willimon: We must get over our disbelief & dismay immediately. We use that energy starting tomorrow to prevent him from ruining the nation.
Kirstie Alley: People want jobs want good wages want fair and limited government want a cleaned up planet but mostly happiness. Stephen Baldwin: God is moving and America is speaking! Praise the Lord.
Jenna Jameson: We are watching history being made.
Tila Tequila: Take a good look at what the right side of history looks like.Read more
London, Nov 8 (IANS) Music mogul Simon Cowell might now have a successful record label and television production company, but he spent eight “miserable” months trying to sell houses in London once upon a time.
“After I left the music industry, I was an estate agent for eight months. And I can honestly say it was the most miserable eight months of my life,” Cowell said in a radio interview, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
“I worked for this really snotty company in Mayfair who hated me and I hated them, and I was so upset that my mum actually said to me, ‘I’ve never seen you so depressed’. And luckily I was offered a job back at the music publishing company. I’m glad I tried it because it was horrible,” he added.
Cowell later got a job working at EMI with music publisher Ellis Rich.
“We decided it would be funny to take out a newspaper ad of a picture of Simon and I apparently naked,” Rich, who too was there during the interview, said.
“We booked and paid for it but forgot that the closing day was the Friday; on Thursday we got a call from the paper saying ‘If we don’t get that picture tonight, you’re just going to have a big black box there’. So Simon says ‘There’s a photo booth in Bond Street station, let’s go there.’ Now it is half past four, Thursday night, Bond Street station, very very busy,” Cowell recalled.
“So we get to the booth, I go in, shut the curtain, strip off down to the waist, and at that moment Simon flings open the curtain and says ‘Oh my god, there’s a naked man in the photo booth!’ I’m amazed I didn’t get arrested. He was difficult to manage,” he music mogul added.
Rotterdam, Nov 7 (IANS) Deepika Padukone’s military green look at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) 2016 has been tagged as a ‘Bollywood blunder’ by international publications.
Dailymail.co.uk, which had referred to Deepika as the “female companion” of tennis star Novak Djokovic earlier this year, featured the Hindi film star among the ‘Worst Dressed Celebs’ of MTV EMAs, and tagged her as a ‘Bollywood Blunder’.
Posting an image of the actress, the publication described the look: “Indian actress Deepika Padukone may be stunning but her swamp green bralet and skirt combo did nothing for her sensational figure.”
Another publication, mirror.co.uk, stated: “Indian film actress Deepika Padukone posed on the red carpet in what looked like a pair of giant dark green curtains as a skirt, a black sparkling bralet and huge chandelier earrings.”
Deepika is among the top young stars of Hindi cinema, having proved her mettle on the silver screen with myriad roles in films like “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani”, “Chennai Express”, “Cocktail”, “Bajirao Mastani” and “Piku”.
She will be making her Hollywood debut with “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” next year alongside Vin Diesel, and was one of the presenters at the event along with her co-star Nina Dobrev. The ceremony took place here on Sunday, and was aired in India on Vh1.
At the event, Deepika’s look seemed to be in sync with her fierceful and strong character of “xXx: Return of Xander Cage”. She wore a Monisha Jaising ensemble – a skirt with a black, sequin bralette.
Jaising posted Deepika’s image on Instagram and captioned it: “Military green is a functional and strong colour. It has a tough, almost androgynous appeal for all of those women warriors out there! Deepika is unstoppable, fit and fierce; making a perfect muse for my Artemisia Gown. I’m thrilled to collaboratively envision with Shaleena Nathani, and create this very special piece for Deepika Padukone for the EMAs.”
There’s a strong buzz in India about Deepika’s Hollywood foray. The trailer of the film was released on Facebook Live and reached 100 million views across multiple platforms in two days.
On Sunday, the film’s Facebook engagement started with exclusive teasers being launched via the cast members’ own handles to their global fan bases. On Monday, exclusive character posters were launched to heighten anticipation leading into a live digital online event on Tuesday.
Directed by DJ Caruso, “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” is a sequel to the 2002 film “xXx” and 2005 film “xXx: State of the Union”. The film also stars Ruby Rose, Samuel L Jackson, Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa.
A Paramount Pictures movie, it will be exclusively distributed in India by Viacom18 Motion Pictures on January 20, 2017.Read more

Los Angeles, Reality TV personality Khloé Kardashian is reportedly expecting her first child with beau Tristan Thompson.
The 32-year-old is pregnant with the 25-year-old Cleveland Cavaliers professional basketball player’s baby, and although the news came as a “surprise” to the reality TV star, she is “so happy” she will be a mother, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
“The pregnancy came as a surprise, particularly since Tristan’s ex-girlfriend is currently pregnant, but Khloé got on board with the idea of having a baby pretty quickly,” a source told X17 magazine.
And the couple, who first appeared to go public with their relationship in September this year, are set to tie the knot prior to the birth, because the former “Kocktails with Khloé” host and her manager and mother, Kris Jenner, want “everything done correctly”, so the pregnancy doesn’t look like an “accident”.
“Khloé and Kris want everything done correctly. They don’t want this to look like an accident and Khloé really wants to show the world that Tristan is her man. She wants to kind of follow tradition and have Tristan ask her mum for permission to propose, in hopes of making the engagement look more traditional and formal,” said a source.Read more
Los Angeles, Nov 3 (IANS) Singer Bruno Mars says his failures have made him who he is.
The “Count on me” hitmaker wasn’t as successful as he is today. He said that those days “s***ed, but in a beautiful way”, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
“Without getting dropped, I might not be here. All of these things you have to go through. It ain’t easy. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it,” Mars said at Zane Lowe’s “Beats 1” show.
“The worst absolute moment was telling everybody I got dropped. I’m broke. I’m in debt. Walking into a room saying, ‘Yeah, I’m a signed Motown artiste,’ then walking in and saying, ‘I’m a dropped Motown artiste.’ But I’m not blaming anybody over there.”
“Sylvia Rhone gave me a deal and the timing wasn’t right. I had to go through this journey. I had to meet Jeff Bhasker and beg him to come play at Pickwick’s Pub on Ventura with me. I had to sing these songs and gig. I was 20 years old. I wasn’t even supposed to be in these places probably,” Mars added.
The 31-year-old hopes he will be remembered for his music and not for any “scandals or controversy”.
“I hope that my music does the talking. I just wanna do music. It could be boring for people this day and age, but I don’t wanna be known for no scandals or controversy. I want to be the guy that brings joy to your life through his music. That’s it,” Mars said.Read more

Los Angeles, Nov 1 “Glee” actor Mark Salling, who was accused of forcing himself on a woman after she changed her mind about wanting sex, won’t face a rape charge.
In a charge evaluation sheet, which has been obtained by the New York Post’s Page Six column, Deputy District Attorney Emily T. Spear from the LA County District Attorney wrote: “I personally interviewed the victim.”
“She appeared very emotional over the trauma inflicted upon her and presents as a credible and accurate historian of the events surrounding the rape. However, given the delay in reporting the crime, suspect’s apparent denial of the rape in victim’s pretext to call him and lack of other corroboration, there is insufficient evidence, at this time, to file this case.”
The 22-year-old alleged victim filed a police report in April this year against Salling after embarking on a romance with the former “Glee” star after meeting in a hotel bar in 2012, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
The woman reportedly claimed in the documents they had entered a room to have sex but she then changed her mind and said “I can’t do this”, yet he refused to stop.
However, the woman has previously claimed she continued to have consensual sex with Salling because she had lost her virginity to him.
In the document, it read: “She believed that she was married to suspect because she lost her virginity to him and stated that was why she continued to consent to sex with him.”
Meanwhile, the actor has denied child pornography accusations and is currently on bail. He has been ordered to stay at least 100 feet away from schools, parks, arcades and many other places of that sort, while his passport has been surrendered and any devices that can connect to the internet have to be approved by the authorities.Read more
