Rachel Meghan Markle is a popular American actress. Best known for her role as Rachel Zane on the TV legal drama suits, the actress has recently been all over the internet for her rumored romantic relationship with Prince Harry. Yesterday, Kensington Palace confirmed Markle was “a few months” into a relationship with Prince Harry.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new woman in Prince Harry’s new life:

1. Where did they meet?


The 32 year old hunky royal is believed to have met the Californian brunette in Canada while he was there in May promoting Invictus Games 2017 that he founded, The games similar to the Paralympics in the sense that  the competition is for injured servicemen, women and veterans. Meghan is from Los Angeles but is settled in Toronto where Suits is filmed.

2. She is bi-racial and recently wrote for Elle UK


Markle’s father, Thomas W. Markle is of Dutch and Irish descent an Emmy ward winner, director of photography. Her mother is African-American and works in social welfare as a yoga therapist.Her parents met while they were working on the set of a soap opera in the 1970s. “While my mixed heritage may have created a grey area surrounding my self-identification, keeping me with a foot on both sides of the fence, I have come to embrace that,” Markle wrote for Elle.

3. She graduated from Northwestern University 


Markle was educated privately at the Immaculate Heart High School, an all girls, independent Roman Catholic high school in Los Angeles. She graduated in 2003 with a communications degree from Northwestern University. She was even a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

4. She has been married before


Markle was married to her long-term boyfriend, film producer Trevor Engelson, in a show stopping ceremony in Jamaica in 2011 after having dated since 2004. But the couple split in May 2013, divorcing in August 2013. It was reported in November 2016 that Markle waived her right to financial support from Engelsson.

5. Her Unexpected Acting Career


Markle’s acting career began unexpectedly when she was discovered at a party after her friend gave a manager a copy of Meghan’s film that Meghan had acted in while she was studying in college. Best known for playing the paralegal Rachel Zane on the TV legal drama, Suits, she also played FBI special agent Amy Jessup in the sci-fi thriller Fringe. Before that, Meghan has appeared in a number of minor TV roles and had some cameos in films such as Horrible Bosses.

6. Her Humanitarian Efforts


Very much like Prince Harry, Markle is all committed to charity. In 2016, she became the Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada, traveling to Rwanda for the Clean Water Campaign. She has also worked with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women as an Advocate. She was a Counsellor for the international charity One Young World, speaking at the annual summit in Dublin (2014) on the topics of gender equality and modern-day slavery. She also attended the Ottawa summit in 2016.

7. She has her own lifestyle brand, The Tig


Markle is the founder of a popular lifestyle brand, The Tig. It is named after the Italian wine, Tignanello — as a “hub for the discerning palate. Containing content related to fashion, beauty, travel and food along with inspiring articles about her humanitarian work for young women, her blog even earned her a spot on Cynopsis Media’s Top Women in Digital list.

8. Debut as a Fashion Designer


Recently Meghan collaborated with the Canadian retailer Reitmans and debuted a five-piece workwear capsule collection that features leather pencil skirts and easy-to-wear shirts.

9. She is an expert calligrapher


To support herself between acting jobs, Markle worked as a freelance calligrapher. She also describes herself on her Instagram bio as a “lover of handwritten notes.” She told Esquire that calligraphy was her “pseudo-waitressing job” when she was auditioning. “I didn’t wait tables. I did calligraphy for the invitations for, like, Robin Thicke and Paula Patton’s wedding,” she explained.

10. Self-proclaimed foodie


Markle has an ardent or refined interest in food and alcoholic beverages. a self-proclaimed foodie, which was even incorporated into her Suits character Rachel Zane.
